“This capsule collection celebrates our history, our heritage, and our freedom!”  Specially designed for the India-South Africa Business Summit Gala in April 2018, this collection honours two remarkable milestones: the centenary of Nelson Mandela and 125 years since the Gandhi incident in Pietermaritzburg. Both icons are globally celebrated for their unwavering fight for freedom.

For this collection, Stephen infused a resort-inspired aesthetic, blending the unique character of Indian Khadi fabric with design elements rooted in his South African heritage. One standout feature is the use of hand silkscreen printing — with motifs and patterns symbolising indigenous African and Indian art.  The silhouettes are voluminous and free-flowing, allowing for graceful movement, while cinched waists highlight and flatter the feminine form. Each look is crafted from natural fibre fabrics, echoing a commitment to sustainability and authenticity.

A matching capsule collection of handbags was also designed in collaboration with Ivanette Britz of Cape Cobra Leathercraft — adding a luxurious finishing touch to this cultural celebration in couture.
